Plant medicine

 For thousands of years, plant medicines have served as powerful allies in journeys of healing. They open the door to parts of ourselves that often remain hidden or untouched, inviting us to reconnect and step into a path of transformation. When woven together with more traditional, modern forms of psychotherapy, this work offers a safe and supportive space where growth, healing, and self-discovery can be engaged with compassion.

The current « psychedelic renaissance » in the West is bringing a re-encounter with psychedelic plants that is showing up across the board in the arts, humanities, and sciences, as well as culture more broadly. Following the indulgences of 19th century culture in Western Europe encountering psychoactive plants and substances, and the cavalier behaviour of some major figures in the post-War West counter-culture, the current approach to psychedelics and plant medicine is much more conservative. Now there is earnest engagement from academia and modern medicine, submitting our understanding to the metabolisms of scientific and clinical processes. It remains to be seen whether this is for the better or worse, or both. In the meantime, we now have decades of scientific supporting an understanding that these plants and substances merit the name ‘medicine’: they can alter the way our brain and nervous system networks communicate, promote new neuronal connections, and sometimes produce a ‘reset’ effect, helping people move beyond treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, addictive behaviors and other challenging diagnoses or life experiences.

At Ground Health we offer a container of support and guidance for people looking to explore healing and development with plant medicine. Our therapeutic principles involve an invitation to come into contact with what hurts. We believe that connecting with the parts of ourselves that are asking for help is the first step toward rediscovering the feeling of being alive and reconnecting with who and what truly matter to us. It is a path that offers discovery, development and a renewed will to connect and serve our loved ones.
